The Mandel Public Library of West Palm Beach – one of the Most Beautiful U.S. Libraries* - is seeking an Assistant Circulation Supervisor to perform specialized circulation and patron service activities. The ideal candidate will supervise assigned staff and volunteers to provide a high quality of customer service, participate in the development and implementation of circulation policies and procedures and coordinate the daily operation of the Circulation department to provide services and resources that are representative of diverse cultures and perspectives.
Essential Duties Include
• Knowledge of basic cash management and office procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to interact courteously and effectively with the public and other staff.
• Proficient level of knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Ability to inspire and motivate staff and communicate vision and purpose to others.
Associates degree with a major in Business Administration, Public Administration or related field (education will be verified using the "Education Requirements" listed below) and two (2) years of experience in a library environment is required, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. One (1) year of lead work of supervisor experience is required.
Experience with automated library circulation system is preferred.
A current and valid Florida driver's license is required. For application purposes, a valid driver's license from any state (equivalent to a State of Florida Class E) may be utilized; with the ability to obtain the State of Florida driver's license within thirty (30) days from date of employment.
To be considered valid (or verified) for position qualification purposes, and consistent with City Hiring Policy 4-5, a High School, GED or equivalent diploma, and all higher education degrees or certifications must have been issued by:
a) a public education institution in the State of Florida or any State or Territory of the United States; or
b) an institution accredited by an accrediting organization that is recognized by the Florida Department of Education or the U.S. Department of Education; or
c) an institution that is accredited by an organization that is recognized by the Council for Higher Edcuation Accreditation (CHEA); or
d) an institution whose degree or certification is accepted by institutions identified in either a, b or c above for the purpose of admission to institutions identified in either a, b, or c above.
