Position Summary: 

Midtown Campus Learning Resources provides excellent instructional support and library services to students and faculty in pursuit of academic excellence.

Candidates for this position must demonstrate excellent proficiency in providing library services including, library instruction on how to conduct research and use databases, create citations and write research papers. Candidate will also need to provide workshops, book/ database talks, library programming and out of class support in the form of support and enrichment. 

Candidate will work closely with the writing team staff to support students in classes, such as Composition I, Composition II, Ethics, Humanities and courses that require student writing assignments. Librarian will assist students with developing thesis statements, writing papers, creating and improving resumes, and writing assignments and projects. This position works with students individually as well as in small groups. Preferred candidate will have experience working face to face and in the online environment.

This class is the fourth of six levels in the Library Services series.  Incumbents perform professional librarian functions within a higher education setting.  Responsibilities may include providing research and reference services for patrons; overseeing various library operations and staff including circulation, material inventory, cataloging, and acquisition; and recommending and implementing policies and procedures.  Incumbents may oversee work of lower level library staff and student workers.



Master's degree in Library or Information Science.


Two (2) years of professional experience as a Librarian. Demonstrated success in providing library instruction, reference, and access services in higher education.

  • Positions in this class typically require: stooping, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
  • Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.  If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
  • Incumbents may be subjected to dust, poor ventilation, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and light travel.
