Description:

Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Librarian, Supervisor within the Libraries Division. Additional vacancies may be filled from this recruitment within the library system. This position may be assigned to any library location/section within the Libraries Division based on operational needs.

 

The purpose of this position is to organize, direct, coordinate and prioritize the workflow of a service section of a regional or flagship library; participate on the supervisory team of the assigned location; ensure that Broward County policies and procedures are followed; resolve day-to-day operational issues; develop and implement programs and services, including division- wide initiatives; cultivate outreach efforts; and serve as a Supervisor-in-Charge of the building on a regular basis. This position is also responsible for collection development, youth and adult reference services, programs and readers advisory.


In addition, this supervisor serves as a resource to multiple libraries in the assigned cluster; provides training to staff throughout the system; may assign staff to other locations as needed; and on occasion assists at other libraries. This supervisor participates on system-wide committees and is responsible for collaborating with colleagues to ensure reference procedures are current and meet the needs of the Division and customers.

This position requires the individual to model the highest level of excellent customer service and professionalism to internal and external customers of the Division.



Education:

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

 Requires a Master's degree from a college or university accredited by the American Library Association in Library Science, Library and Information Science, or closely related field.


Requires two (2) years of professional library experience providing services to all ages including one (1) year of lead work/supervisory experience.

Preferences:

·         Must be able to work a flexible schedule that may include days, evenings, nights, and weekends

·         Master's degree or higher in Education or related field that is separate but relevant from the Minimum Qualifications

·         ALA Leadership Institute Certificate

·         Sunshine State Library Leadership Institute Certificate

·         Post Master Certification in Librarianship

·         Certificate in Library Leadership and Management

·         2 years Project Planning Experience

·         2 years Grants Writing Experience

·         2 years or more experience planning and implementing public programs and outreach 

·         2 years or more experience forming and maintaining partnerships with community groups and other County agencies
