GENERAL DESCRIPTION: |
The Reference Librarian I is responsible for providing reference service to the public. |
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: |
· Provides general reference services to patrons in person and over the telephone by use of interviewing techniques, search organization (computer database, etc.) and networking.
· Work on various tasks/projects as assigned (i.e., inventory).
· Assists with collection development and materials selection based upon understanding of user needs.
· Plans and presents library programs.
· Teaches lab computer classes.
· Provides computer and reference instruction to users.
· Performs extensive research as needed to satisfy the informational needs of the user.
· Serves on departmental and bureau task forces and committees to develop policies and procedures.
· Regular attendance. |
JOB REQUIREMENTS: |

Education |
Master of Library Science Degree from an ALA accredited college or university required. |
Experience |
Six (6) months to one (1) year of experience working with the public. |
Licenses, Certifications or Registrations |
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License and be insurable by current insurance carrier. Must be able to obtain within 6 months of employment, certification in NIMS/Incident Command Courses Is100PWb, IS200 and IS700. |
