Description:

Under minimal supervision, performs operational and/or technical skills and knowledge of library services with expertise in a particular area.  Provides students and instructors with the greatest quality of service while also providing them with materials that are necessary for a succesful academic experience.  Ensures that the FIU community had access to the Libray's course Reserve materials, electronic devices, and audio-visual collection to the greatest extent possible.

  • Creates and maintains online database. Maintains a collection of bound/paper Reserves at the Circulation Desk. Works together with faculty to ensure that students have the best possible access to Reserve resources. Assists Florida Virtual Campus (FLVC) in identifying and resolving difficulties with course reserves.
  • Provides customer service to the Reserves at the Circulation Desk. Resolves issues in Reserves/AV (Audiovisual), including viewing equipment usage. Maintains and replaces AV equipment as needed. Troubleshoots and resolves customer service concerns.
  • Oversees the AV collection at Hubert Library. Inter-Campus loans of audiovisual material are coordinated. Upgrades formats and requests new titles for course reserves, which helps to build the library.
  • Assesses and processes Copyright payments on Reserve items, via Copyright Clearance Center. Keeps up with the latest developments in the field of copyright law.
  • In collaboration with the Circulation Supervisor, resolves fine/billing issues related to Reserve materials. Assists in the determination of late/lost fees and the duration of reserve item loan terms.
  • Assists Circulation Supervisor in Audiovisual Production of Library training/orientation materials, as needed.
  • Performs other related duties are required or as requested. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
  • Catalogs and maintains electronic devices (Laptops, iPads, e-readers etc.) and makes these items available to patrons. Keeps inventory of such devices and provide troubleshooting as needed.

Education:

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED and five (5) years of related experience or Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of related experience.
