Essential Functions: Act as a main point of contact for patron services, library programming, and collection development for patrons of all ages. Patron services may include, reference, reader advisory, volunteer services, special projects, technology assistance, and/or other tasks/areas as assigned. Library programming may include the creation, planning, organization, direction, implementation, registration, and delivery of programs and/or other tasks/areas as assigned. Collection development may include the selection or deselection of materials, cataloging, stack/book maintenance, and/or other tasks/areas as assigned.
Minimum Abilities: Ability to think analytically. Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment. Ability to prepare comprehensive reports and present ideas clearly and concisely. Ability to make administrative decisions, interpret policies, and supervise others. Ability to motivate, establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, supervisors, volunteers, community agencies and the public. Ability to organize job duties and work independently. Ability to communicate confidently, articulately, and professionally verbally and in writing. Ability to multitask. Ability to use common software applications (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, Overdrive, etc.). Ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Ability to count change and handle money. Ability to place items in correct order (alphabetical, numerical, etc.). Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds on a regular basis and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Ability to work with and troubleshoot office machines (i.e. copier, fax machine, scanner, etc.). Ability to apply library policies and procedures. Ability to work as part of a team.
Minimum Education/Experience: Master's degree with training emphasis in library science or allied field, supplemented by 3 or more years of experience and/or training involving library work (paid or volunteer), OR any equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform essential job functions. Students currently enrolled in an MLS or MLIS program are encouraged to apply.
