Florida State University Libraries seeks a highly collaborative and service-minded individual as a STEM Research and Learning librarian. This position plays a key role in advancing research and scholarship at FSU by providing instructional and outreach services to faculty and students in STEM disciplines; evaluating, selecting, and reviewing information resources to support curricula and research needs; and providing consultative services that advance open science and effective data stewardship. Successful candidates will proactively integrate considerations of diversity, equity, and inclusion into their work with library services, resources, and technology.

The incumbent will work collaboratively across library divisions to provide programs and services that support the research, teaching and learning needs of STEM scholars. They will also be responsible for building and maintaining partnerships with the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering. The FAMU-FSU College of Engineering is a joint program that serves Florida State University as well as Florida A&M University which is an historically black university (HBCU). 

This position is a member of the STEM Libraries Department which is a dynamic and service-oriented group that supports and partners with STEM scholars to meet their teaching, learning and research needs. This position reports to the Director of STEM Libraries, and the primary working location is Dirac Science Library.

Provide research, learning, and engagement support to the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering as well as other selected departments and programs in the sciences, including course-integrated instruction, skill-building workshops, research consultations, and collection development.

Collaborate with STEM departments and programs to align collections, instruction, reference, and research support with the evolving needs of students and faculty.

Provide library services for students and faculty in the STEM fields in areas of research data management and open science.

Provide service to the Libraries, the University, and the profession by contributing to committees, participating in research and other forms of scholarly activity.


Graduate degree in a STEM discipline and/or ALA accredited degree in library/information science.

Demonstrated expertise using resources in STEM, including databases, journals, and preprints.

Flexibility in adapting to changing organizational priorities and technological environments

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work flexibly and effectively in groups.

Undergraduate or graduate degree in engineering or related field

Knowledge and understanding of patent research and engineering standards

Knowledge of research data management policies and practices.

Experience with tools for STEM data analysis, which may include but is not  limited to MatLab, Python, and R


Experience providing library instruction and research support, or equivalent experience
