Description:

Position Function:

Under general supervision, performs a full range of office and/or administrative support work requiring the application of technical-related/administrative knowledge while assisting in the operations of the City library.

 

Tasks/Duties:

  • Provide administrative support for overall operations of the library including aiding office coordination, staff scheduling, ordering supplies, etc.
  • Review incoming correspondence; initiate replies as appropriate and within authority; route matters requiring action by staff or other organizations; and follow up to ensure actions are completed.
  • Coordinate city resources to meet community-oriented needs.
  • Assist with Children’s circulation desk or Reference desk duties as needed.
  • Provide support and assistance with programming organization, community outreach, marketing and communication efforts and special event coordination.
  • Provide library operations support as needed.
  • Work evenings and weekend hours, including off-site events and outreach activities. Perform additional duties as assigned. Be available for emergency call-outs.

Education:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • Six (6) months customer service experience.
  • One (1) year of professional administrative office experience.  
  • Six (6) months recent experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

 

PREFERABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of experience
  • Recent experience (within the past three (3) years) working or volunteering in a public, school or academic library.
  • Completion of the following NIMS Courses within the designated amount of time from hire date:
  • Basic IS-700 (6 months)
  • Basic ICS-100 (6 months)
