Job Summary
The Instruction & Information Specialist, a member of the ETIS Department, will be responsible for reimagining the role, function, and value-add of the library facility and the library program offering at Gulliver Prep at the middle and upper school. This position will also be responsible for leveraging existing and emerging technologies to foster innovation, creativity, and curiosity at Gulliver Prep. The Instruction and Information Specialist must have a positive rapport with students, have a friendly outgoing disposition, a passion for reading all formats and genres, and must be able to demonstrate proficiency in applications of technology skills that encompass ISTE & AASL Crosswalk Standards.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Partners with teachers and uses the curriculum map to schedule instructional opportunities on a weekly, monthly, or quarterly basis as outlined on the curriculum map
- Supports the authentic integration of technology into classroom curriculum and enhances teaching and learning practices while embedding the new literacies (global, media, and digital) as relevant and appropriate (i.e. lesson planning, co-teaching, lesson modeling, flipped instruction, etc.).
- Works closely with teachers and students to design and implement PK-12 research policy using Guided Inquiry Design process across multiple projects and content areas.
- Works closely with teachers and students to deliver a developmentally appropriate Digital Citizenship program in all grades
- Actively seeks opportunities to collaborate with teachers and students to embed information literacy, digital literacy, media literacy, and global literacy skills within curricular units, projects, competitions, performances, etc.
- Acts as a program ambassador and seeks opportunities to speak about the mission of the library program to all available stakeholder whenever possible
- Curates digital resources and leads in the selection, integration, organization and sharing of digital resources and tools to support transformational teaching and learning
- Develops the digital curation skills of others, ie - teachers, admins, students, and staff
- Designs and deliver professional development for administrators, faculty members, and students via workshops and one-on-one training, and flipped classroom/video instruction
- Creates an inviting, welcoming, and inclusive environment to promote the use of resources, inquiry, and collaborative ideation
- Provides research support to students through group sessions and one-on-one appointments as requested
- Attend workshops, conferences, and courses to update professional skills and actively participates in professional organizations, and in-field PLN’s (ISTE Connect’s PLN) or continuous development
- Maintains and updates the library’s web page and media presence with special attention to increasing engagement with students and families
- Ability to provide solutions by connecting IT, faculty, and Edtech to approach challenges with holistic solutions.
- Education:
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or Higher in Education or Educational Technology
- Classroom teaching experience is a must!
- Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate approaches based on age and ability levels.
Desired Qualifications
- An MLS/MLIS degree or certification and/or formal experience supporting a library space is highly recommended.
- Must have excellent leadership, communication, and computer skills; and should be inquisitive, personable, flexible, energetic, and collegial
- Must possess analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary
- Organizational and interpersonal skills
