Emerging Technologies Referance Librarian-Ave Maria School of Law
Overview:
The successful candidate for this full-time, non-tenured role reports into the Director, Law Library. The Emerging Technologies Referance Librarian provides technology (software applications, Web 2.0 applications, iPads, mobile and other applications and technologies) and research database (primarily legal) training to students, faculty, staff, alumni, and other users of the Ave Maria School of law Library. The Emerging Technologies Librarian takes the lead in implementing new technologies and databases for the Library.
Essential duties inculde, but not limited to:
- Identifying, customizing, implementing and evaluating current and emerging technologies.
- Monitoring virtual reference, mobile services, and instructional technologies trends.
- Working with Technical Services staffto maintain and improve ERM information.
- Providing dailay research and reference services.
- Assisting in all library operations, actively participating in cross-training.
- All other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications include, but not limited to:
Required:
- J.D. degree from an ABA accredited law school.
- MLS, MLIS, or ILS from ALA accredited library school (will consider those who are enrolling in the program with the committment to completing the MLS).
- 1-2 years of experience working in a fast-paced library environment.
- Empirical and multi-disiplinary scholarly research experience.
Preferred:
- Experience with providing access to electronic resources (licensing, access, troubleshooting, etc.) andautherization methods (including EZproxy software);
- Experience incorporating new technologies to promote and enhance library resources, including web resources.
- Expereicne with law schoolLMS software and databases.
