The Coordinator, Technical Services is a 12-month professional position. The Coordinator plans for, organizes, and supervises the district technical services of the Libraries. The successful candidate will recommend, implement, and manage the district learning resources materials budget in coordination with the campus librarians and the Department Head of Libraries; coordinate technical activities with the campus libraries to ensure the effective and efficient development, processing, and utilization of library collections; direct and supervise the operations and staff of Library Technical Services area; make assignments, provide training, and conduct performance evaluations; perform original cataloguing on print and digital materials; recommend department expenditures requests and the acquisition of equipment and supplies; maintain Online Computer Library Catalog (OCLC) obligations; and recommend policies and procedures affecting the acquisition, cataloging, and processing of learning resources materials for the district. This position reports to the Department Head of Libraries.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited institution with a master’s degree in Library Science, knowledge of library technology and library automation systems and procedures, four years full-time responsible experience in the technical services and public services areas of an academic library. Successful results of a criminal background check are required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Prefer working knowledge of acquisition and cataloguing functions of a consortium library; familiarity with OCLC, ILS administration and electronic resources contracts and administration; and experience with materials and personnel budget management.
