Ransom Everglades School is seeking applications for a full time administrative position as Director of Libraries. The Director of Libraries oversees the Dan Leslie Bowden Library on the Upper School campus and the Braman Family Media Center on the Middle School campus, as well as all support services provided by the libraries. The Director of Libraries sets the vision for the RE libraries to support students and faculty in implementing student-centered pedagogy and a 21st century curriculum. The Director of Libraries sets and manages the budget, trains and supervises library staff and volunteers, oversees the development of the library collection, and creates and implements curriculum in digital and media literacy, research, and presentation skills. An opportunity exists for the Director of Libraries to evaluate and modernize the physical design of the two libraries, and to work closely with the Technology Department to ensure that the libraries are outfitted with technology that best enhances students’ ability to seek and create knowledge. The Director of Libraries is a member of the school’s Academic Council, working closely with academic Department Chairs.
A Master’s degree in Library Science or a closely related field, and work experience in a supervisory capacity is required.
Significant knowledge of the operations of middle and secondary school libraries is required, including cataloging and collection management, library policies, library automation and technologies, and the teaching functions of school libraries.
Previous experience as a library director is preferred.
