Administers and oversees the operation of a major section in a branch library. Interprets and explains library policies/procedures to the public and staff; creates/approves classes and activities for adults; provides research services to members; resolves member complaints/problems; monitors materials budget/selection; recommends the hiring, promotion and termination of staff; trains and directs professional/paraprofessional library system personnel; supervises the use of online and electronic resources utilized for public computer classes; participates in long-range planning and committee work.

QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s Degree in Library Science accredited by the American Library Association (ALA); minimum of two (2) years of professional library experience, including one (1) year of supervisory or administrative responsibilities. PREFERENCE FOR EXPERIENCE: Conducting oral presentations/speaking in public; using online/electronic library resources. Also desirable: Bilingual (Spanish/Creole).
