Come work at one the Most Beautiful U.S. Libraries*. The Mandel Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated teen librarian to join our youth services department. A quick and creative thinker, this full-time position will help bring the library to the forefront of teen services. We are looking for a professional who thrives in an environment rich with diversity and finds joy in serving and advocating for teenagers.

Essential Duties Include

The City of West Palm Beach allows remote work assignments for certain job classifications and under certain conditions in accordance with Remote Work Policy 4-20.

Other duties and responsibilities may include:

Provides customer service at teen services information desk.
Provides readers advisory for teenagers and their families; recommends authors, materials and resources to assist customers in their information selections.
Participates in outreach projects.
Assists customers in the use of online resources.
Maintains the print and digital collections of materials for teenagers (12-18), maintains collections under the supervision of the youth services manager, reads professional literature and reviews as appropriate.
Provides expertise in specific areas of librarianship such as teen librarianship and outreach to teenagers.
Stays current with developments in the field of teen services, technology and information services.
Manages, and maintains outreaches at local school, alternative centers and other locations that serve teenagers
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Essential Knowledge and Skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience in social media platforms and knowledge of current trends in social media.
Proficient in Adobe Suite, social media platforms and Microsoft Suite.

Master's degree in Library Science (MLS) from an ALA-accredited program of study with two (2) years related experience in a field such as teaching, recreation, social work, book sales or related field.

A valid Florida Driver's license, required. A valid driver's license from any state (equivalent to a State of Florida Class E) may be utilized upon application; with the ability to obtain the State of Florida driver's license within 30 days from day of appointment.

Alternate requirements: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and the ability to complete the Master's degree in Library Sciences (MLS) within six (6) months from the date of employment, and three (3) years related experience in a field such as teaching, recreation, social work, or book sales, or related field.

Education requirements: Education will be verified. International degrees will be evaluated to determine if they satisfy qualification requirements.
