Lee County Library System, a dynamic and forward-thinking organization, is searching for enthusiastic, community-minded candidates to become a part of our robust team at the Northwest Regional Library. As a Senior Library Associate, you will lead a staff of  6 in providing high quality customer service and effectively manage the operations of the circulation department at a busy regional library.  The successful candidate will be a self-starter, imaginative, team-oriented, dedicated, and customer service driven with a strong commitment to providing excellent library service and will have the ability to relate positively to a diverse population.

This position is located between schools: Mariner Middle School and Mariner High School.

This facility has an Automated Materials Handling (AMH) system. As the Senior Library Associate you will be responsible for problem-solving issues with and general maintenance of the equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities

Prepare staff schedules for coverage of public service areas.
Supervise, train, and coach circulation staff in providing high quality customer service, following library policies and procedures and using library equipment and the integrated library system.
Promote teamwork through effective and positive communication.
Prepare staff schedules for monthly, weekly and daily coverage of the circulation desk.
Establish employee performance objectives and reviews and evaluate job performance of the circulation staff.
Serve on hiring teams for job vacancies at the branch and around the library system.
Utilize specialized software for a variety of tasks, including the circulation of library materials, preparation of reports and identifying and processing reserved items for pick-up.
Provide prompt, high quality and courteous customer service to patrons of diverse ages and backgrounds.
Assist library users with circulation of materials, self-check machines, computers, electronic resources and downloading, internet use, scanners, copy machines and general information about library services.
Prepare reports, correspondence, and bank deposits and supervise the daily/weekly reconciliation of funds collected from fines, fees, copy machines and print management.
Operate a variety of equipment such as computers, self-check machines, photocopiers, and cash registers.
Perform the computerized, manual, and clerical duties necessary to the operations of the library.
Update the patron database.
Prepare circulation reports.
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot an Automated Materials Handling System
Inspect condition of returned library materials.
Participate in system-wide committees and projects.
Other duties may include preparing library displays, shelving library materials, assisting with library programs, preparing purchase order requests for minor equipment/supplies, assisting at the reference desks and other duties as necessary.
Operationally support teen services after school hours

Education/Qualifications:

Education, Experience, Licensing
Requires a combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree or specialized courses/training equivalent to satisfactory completion of two years of college and two years customer service experience.

 

Prefer three or more years of customer service experience.
Possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Supplemental Information
Additional language fluencies (Spanish, Haitian, ASL) a plus.
Demonstrated supervisory experience preferred.
Exceptional written, verbal, and virtual communication skills preferred.
Ability to deliver an exemplary customer experience is preferred.
Efficiency in workplace technologies and Microsoft Office 365 suite preferred.
Experience in Integrated Library Systems and/or similar databases preferred.
Ability to relate positively to a diverse population, including children, teens, and speakers of languages other than English.
Ability to bend, stretch, sit and stand for long periods of time.
Ability to lift and carry objects up to 35 lbs.
The County may require employees to make either a temporary, long-term, or permanent transfer to another library location to accommodate the organization's business needs.
This position requires 80 Hours Bi-Weekly; hours and days will vary to include evenings, Saturdays and some Sundays.

During an Emergency, employees may temporarily be assigned to work and perform duties outside the normal scope of their position, location and work schedule to fit the needs of the County and its citizens
