Provides direct customer service and technology assistance to Citrus County Library patrons.
The primary work schedule for this full-time position is 40 hours per week, between Monday through Saturday, 8:00AM to 7:00PM. The primary location for this position is the Floral City branch.
Salary Disclosure: Starting Salary: $15.55 hourly plus benefit and retirement options; Pay Range $15.55 – $20.97 hourly. Pay Grade: 106
Essential Functions:
- Performs advanced clerical work in a public library.
- Provides excellent customer service and assists the public with technology and general computing tasks using a variety of resources and databases.
- Recruits, trains, and oversees volunteers and community service workers.
- Performs general library circulation duties as well as information research, public training, and planning for volunteer appreciation events.
- Works with computer system for managing library material including item tracking, retrieval of information and public workstation management.
- Operates cash register, answer phones, maintain shelves, empties book drop, packs, and sorts materials.
- Works directly with Branch Supervisor as back up for staff scheduling and facility operations including acting as a person in charge of the branch.
- Works some evenings and Saturdays at various branch locations, as needed.
- Performs other duties as required.
Education/Qualifications:
Education, Training, and Experience
- Associate’s degree, vocational-technical degree or specialized training that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of two (2) years of college education.
- Previous customer service, cash handling, and computer experience required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registration, Skills
- Valid Florida Driver License (or must obtain within 30 days of establishing residency in Florida), or valid Florida Identification Card is acceptable only for positions not required to drive a county vehicle.
- Ability to work after normal business hours (may include nights, weekends, and holidays).
- Ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing) in a clear, confident manner using proper grammar.
- Requires ability to maintain courteous and effective relations with County staff, elected officials, community interest groups and the public.
- Must have strong working knowledge of computers and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite of Products (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
- Must have or be able to obtain within 90 days certification in FEMA National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses:IS-100.c: Introduction to the Incident Command System (ICS); and
IS-700.b: An Introduction to the National Incident Management System
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
- Requires standing and walking most of the day.
- The job involves frequent lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds, and occasionally up to 20 pounds.
- The job requires frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, balancing, and reaching above shoulders, and occasional crawling and twisting.
- The job requires the completion of tasks that involve simple grasping, pushing, pulling, fine manual manipulation, and typing.
