Job Description:
This position serves as a Staff Assistant in the Division of Blind Services Braille & Talking Book Library located in Daytona Beach, Florida. The incumbent will provide high-level administrative support by conducting research, preparing reports, handling information requests, assisting with program management, assisting with constituents, and performing administrative and clerical functions such as preparing correspondence, receiving visitors, arranging conference calls, and scheduling meetings.
Examples of Work:
Assists in the maintenance of Keystone Library Automated System (KLAS).
Updates bibliographic records in KLAS.
Mines data and prepares reports using KLAS.
Assists with responses to surveys, report requests, and other inquiries from the National Library Service (NLS).
Assists with weekly and annual audit of the CMLS transaction records.
Assists in the preparation of subject, genre, and format specific bibliographies.
Assists in the ongoing review, revision, and updating of the Braille & Talking Books Library webpage on the Division’s website.
Assists in the management of the Bureau’s shared “J” drive; including organizing documents based in the Bureau’s basic organizational structure.
Assists with serials materials; including helping with the maintenance of subscription lists and the production of overdue notices for digital series.
Assists in the production of Bureau documents including forms, information materials, and other printed materials.
Minimum Qualifications:
Three years of secretarial or clerical work experience.
College education from an accredited institution can substitute at the rate of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours for each year of the required work experience.
Vocational/technical training in the area of secretarial science or office/business studies can substitute at the rate of 720 classroom hours for each year of the required work experience.
A high school diploma or its equivalent can substitute for one year of the required work experience.
