Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

Responsible for all access services, including assisting users with circulation/reserve requests and maintenance of the library collection and equipment during nights and weekends.

 

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

1.     Covering the Circulation Desk.

2.     Responsible for opening and closing the library.

3.     Responsible for routine light maintenance of photocopiers.

4.     Assisting patrons with checking-in and discharging of library material.

5.     Setting up and removing audio visual/media equipment whenever required.

6.     Supervise library operations and report any problems to the Library Director or the Associate Director.

7.     Assist patrons with questions related to WorldCat Local, the library OPAC.

8.     Serve on University committees as assigned.

9.     Perform other duties as assigned.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

 

Routine assignments are performed independently following University and departmental policies and procedures.

 

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

 

No supervisory responsibility, but may train and direct the work of assigned law or work study students.

 

 

*This position requires evening and weekend hours/up to 30 hours a week.


Education:

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS/SPECIFICATIONS:

 

1.  College degree or two (2) years of college education and prior library related experience preferred. May be working towards college degree..

 

      2.  Ability to work in a network/integrated library system environment.

      3.  Ability to follow through on long and short-term assignments.

     4.  Ability to handle and resolve problems.

     5.  Physical requirements are within the normal bounds of an office environment, but, may occasionally require lifting/pushing/pulling equipment weighing up to 20 pounds.
