Position Summary:
Performs professional library work which involves various technical library services, customer programming, and some lead responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
Other duties may be assigned as dictated by operational necessity.
• Plans, organizes, and implements youth services programming which may include performances, classes, storytimes, and other special events.
• Markets and promotes library services and programs including press releases, social media posts, and community outreach engagements. 
• Records and reports event attendances, submits monthly activity statistics, and completes other reports for administrative purposes.
• Determines program directions through community research activities and professional development, sometimes coordinating with HCPLC outreach initiatives.
• Provides general technology services assistance including helping with the copier/printer/scanner equipment, online searches, and navigating the HCPLC website.
• Provides moderately individual technology assistance to customers as needed. 
• Performs Customer Service Desk duties including collecting and maintaining records of fees or other monetary transactions and opening new library accounts.
• Directs non-professional library staff and volunteers.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Knowledge of public library services, operations, and practices. • Knowledge of circulation policies and procedures. • Proficient in computer applications such as Microsoft Office. • Excellent organization skills. • Excellent customer service skills. • Ability to learn how to use the HCPLC Operating System proficiently. • Ability to assist customers with technology services according to library policies. • Ability to operate technical library equipment. • Ability to complete multiple detailed tasks quickly and accurately. • Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective relationships with staff, volunteers, and library customers. • Ability to work without close supervision and exercise sound judgment in performing duties. • Ability to work some night and weekend shifts.



Education and Experience: • Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with completed courses in library science, education, recreation, public relations, or other closely related fields. • Two years of experience with supervisory responsibility in youth library programing, library services and operations, event planning or professional teaching is preferred.
