Description:

The Florida Atlantic University Libraries are seeking a highly experienced and nationally engaged individual to lead the Scholarly Communication Program. Reporting to the Dean of University Libraries, the Scholarly Communication Librarian sets the vision for the growth and development of scholarly communication efforts at Florida Atlantic University Libraries. This position works with the Dean, Assistant Deans, and other faculty and staff within the Libraries in developing appropriate programming for outreach and service to the campus and the broader community. The Scholarly Communication Librarian must foster an environment of effective communication and collaboration with departmental faculty and staff, as well as with colleagues in all areas of the University Libraries.

 

The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to providing excellent customer service; demonstrated interpersonal skills encompassing the ability to interact collegially with a variety of colleagues and levels of staff; ability to use technology in creative ways to solve problems and create efficiencies; demonstrated ability to promote teamwork, equality, and inclusiveness; and excellent written and oral communication skills.

 

In coordination with FAU Libraries colleagues, develops and manages initiatives, educational programming and appropriate services for FAU faculty, researchers, students, and staff on scholarly communication topics, including but not limited to: open access, copyright, intellectual property rights, alternative publishing models, open educational resources, and data management.

Education:

Required qualifications:

·      ALA-accredited master’s degree in Library or Information Science or its equivalent.

·      Minimum of two years of post-master’s professional experience in an academic, public, or special library.

·      Current knowledge of background, trends, and best practices in scholarly communication with the ability to articulate a strategic vision for scholarly communication in a rapidly evolving library landscape.
