Stetson University seeks an innovative, collaborative, and dynamic User Experience and Outreach Librarian for a full-time tenure-track appointment as an assistant professor. Working collaboratively, the User Experience and Outreach Librarian will be responsible for the development and implementation of programming, activities, and projects designed to improve the overall library experience. The librarian in this position will work to develop relationships with the library’s various user communities, both in-person, online, and in social media. The successful candidate will be expected to meet the standards for librarianship, scholarship, and service outlined in the University’s tenure and promotion policies.
RESPONSIBILITIES: This position reports to the Director of Public Services. Duties include on-call research assistance shifts, including some nights and weekends, and information literacy instruction. Master of Library & Information Science (MLS/MLIS) from an ALA-accredited institution required. Second Master’s degree preferred.
The ideal candidate understands learning theory, learning technologies, library user behavior, space design best practices, marketing, demographics, and statistics. Demonstrated expertise in communication and outreach is especially desired. All Stetson librarians are expected to contribute to general reference and research services and function well as a member of a collaborative team. In addition, the successful candidate should have the following: demonstrated ability or potential to engage in publication and professional service to meet University tenure and promotion requirements; knowledge of best practices, issues, and trends in user-centered design in academic libraries, including trends in teaching and learning, online learning, and information literacy; demonstrated teaching or presentation experience; the ability to contribute to a growing and changing library; demonstrated skill with a variety of online tools, especially website management systems; effective communication, marketing, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical and assessment skills; ability to manage projects and meet deadlines; and the ability to work flexibly and creatively in a changing environment.
