Professional library work of above average difficulty and responsibility. An employee within this classification is responsible for the adaptation and implementation of modern library principles and practices in one of the major library service areas. Independent judgment is required in planning and developing programs and services within the framework of general library policies and under the supervision of higher level professional or administrative personnel.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Performs professional level library work in acquisitions/ordering, adult services/reference, children/young adult services, extension services and technical processing/cataloging. Oversees specialized library services such as collection development, serials, databases, maker space, digitizations and preservation, adult and children's programming or acquisitions. Duties included explaining the use of library facilities to patrons, giving computer training, reading guidance and reference service and supervising remote reference functions and the registration of borrowers and circulation of library materials. May supervise professional, clerical or other staff. May function as a supervisor of a small branch and act as manager in charge during manager's absence. Performs related tasks as assigned.
Graduation from an American Library Association accredited library school with a Master's Degree in Library Science and two years of full-time professional-level experience in public, school or college library work. Any equivalent combination of education, trainingand experience.
