Description:

This full-time, temporary (expected to last six months or more) position is responsible for delivering library services and programs in a municipal library setting.  Work requires the application of professional library skills and knowledge acquired through special study and training on a variety of technical and/or professional functions.  Work will include evening and weekend hours providing library services.  Work may also include the supervision, instruction and oversight of a small staff of nonprofessional assistants.  An employee in this class is able to provide excellent library patron services, including lending materials; providing information upon request; presenting library and outreach programsskillfully equipping patrons and staff with library informationeducating and training the public in an automated and technological environment; competently handling community and supervisory contact with considerable patiencetact and diplomacyand utilizing considerable sound judgmentdiscretion and initiative in developing solutions to problems.


Education:

 

Essential Qualifications:  Applicants must have obtained a Bachelor's degree and be actively enrolled in a Master's degree program for Library Science at an American Library Association accredited college or university - or - must have already obtained the Library Science Master's degree; must possess, at the time of application, and continue to maintain a valid State of Florida Driver's License to travel between multiple libraries within a scheduled work shiftand must have some supervisory experience.  Desirable Qualifications:  Preferred applicants have at least two years of experience working in various phases of a modern library system.
