POSITION OBJECTIVE:

University/College Library at Broward College, Davie, FL seeks a highly motivated, outgoing individual to provide reference services and library instruction in traditional and innovative ways to students and faculty.

Candidates should be enthusiastic librarians who can address the needs of diverse 21st century learners, lead student-centered outreach initiatives, and effectively promote library services and resources to the academic community.

This is an 11-month (213-day) faculty position. The work week will be 5-day, 37.5 hours, including evenings and weekends.


Education:

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

  • MLS from an ALA accredited institution is required. Post-MLS academic library reference experience and demonstrated evidence of outreach activities are preferred.

 

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

 

  • The successful candidate must have a high level of computer literacy and a committment to library service and outreach in a diversely populated community.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated experience in reference and teaching print, electronic, and web-based resources in an academic setting
  • Experience with digital reference, online tutorials, or digital tools
  • Strong commitment to excellent public service
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team in a culturally diverse environment
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of current and emerging trends and digital publication technologies in academic libraries

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with joint-use libraries
  • Familiar with graphic design and digital publication software
  • Experience with learning management systems
  • Conversant with social media platforms
  • Experience with an integrated library system
