Job Objective:

Holland & Knight LLP seeks a Research and Training Specialist to support the research and training activities of the attorneys and library department firm wide. The Research and Training Specialist will be heavily involved in the library team’s transition to a centralized research function and with information integration initiatives including the firm’s intranet, digital libraries, electronic resources, knowledge management and data communications.

 

This is a demanding position in a fast-paced environment and requires excellent written, verbal, technological, analytical and project management skills, as well as the ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines. The Research and Training Specialist must demonstrate initiative, eagerness to learn, strong intellectual curiosity and willingness to take ownership of key projects.  The ideal candidate must have a strong technical and training background with a progressive approach to the delivery of library and research services. The position reports to the Senior Business Intelligence & Library Manager and will be based in our Operations Office in Brandon, Florida. EOE, AA, M/F/D/V

 

Essential Functions:

·        Provide support in the ongoing transition towards an electronic law library and virtual research services on a firm wide level

·        Provide assistance and training, both in person and remotely, to end users on various electronic legal databases and web-based resources

·        Assist attorneys with locating available computer-assisted research tools

·        Administrator for library applications, including the library catalog and Research Monitor with a focus on usage monitoring and contract management including the submission of monthly operations reports on electronic resource usage and statistics to conduct cost recovery

·        Manage all levels of accessibility to e-resources including trouble-shooting issues with digital subscriptions in relation to delivery and access; manage the process of adding new/removing departed users to digital subscriptions

·        Ensure the use and distribution of e-resources conforms to signed agreements and copyright generally

·        Act as liaison with the IT Department to resolve database access and related issues with the library databases and other resources on the Library intranet portal.

·        Process invoices for payment and monitor expenditures against budget targets

·        Evaluate, test, recommend and implement new electronic resources and library specific software beneficial to the firm

 

·        Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Business Intelligence & Library Manager


Education:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

·        Research interests, intellectual curiosity; analytical skills and ability to convey research in written form are key

·        Ability to create training and communication plans

·        Strategic thinking and high energy; be results and detail oriented; work well independently

·        Outstanding communication, interpersonal, time management and organizational skills

·        Business and/or legal research experience

·        Experience working with social media, search, mobile technologies and eBooks

·        Computer and database skills with intermediate Word and Excel skills preferred as well as SharePoint skills or other online collaboration tools

·        Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks and follow oral and written instructions

·        Ability to work in a team environment and be flexible in taking on various projects

 

Minimum Education:

Bachelor's degree

 

Experience Required:

 

1-2 years of experience in a related area, preferably in a legal or professional services environment
