COMMUNITY LIBRARY MANAGER, SENIOR

 

Salary Range - $74, 617.32 - $119,089.63 per year (dependent upon classification and qualifications)

 

 

Broward County, Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for Community Library Manager, Senior Classifications, for our North Cluster Region, Youth and Adult Services, and Collection Management respectively.  Additional vacancies may be filled from this recruitment.  These positions may be assigned to any location within the Libraries Division based on operational needs.

 

Requirements:

 

· Requires a Master's degree from a college or university accredited by the American Library Association in Library Science, Library and Information Science, or closely related field.

· Requires four (4) years professional library experience, including two (2) years managing a section/branch and two (2) years supervisory experience.

 

Community Library Manager, Senior – North Cluster:

The purpose of this position is to manage, plan, supervise and coordinate the activities of a regional or flagship library location or a division-wide section.  The functions of this position include but are not limited to: supervising staff, managing public services, operations, projects, programs, facilitating partnerships, coordinating and cultivating outreach efforts, coordinating and supporting division-wide initiatives, managing collection development, circulation, youth and adult reference services and readers advisory.  This position is also responsible for serving as a liaison to the local community and Friends of the Library and is regularly assigned complex administrative projects and will be assigned as manager in charge of a cluster of libraries in the absence of the Library Regional Manager.

 

 

Preferences:

· Certificates in Community Information Management; ALA Leadership; Sunshine State Library Leadership Institute; or Post Master Certificates in Librarian-ship.

· Master's degree or higher in Education or related field that is separate but relevant from the Minimum Qualifications.

· Experience in Conflict Resolution, Project Management, and Grants Writing.

 

Community Library Manager, Senior - Community Engagement - Adult Services:

The purpose of this position is to manage, plan, supervise and coordinate the activities of a division-wide section, Adult Services Administration.  The functions of this position include but are not limited to: supervising and training staff, managing public service projects and programs, facilitating partnerships, coordinating and cultivating outreach efforts, coordinating and supporting division-wide initiatives, adult reference services and readers advisory, managing adult computer classes, coordinating activities for the Florida Center for the Book, and managing library innovation in the field of adult librarianship.  This position is also responsible for serving as a liaison to county-wide adult community, literacy, and business organizations and projects and reviewing adult population needs.  The position is regularly assigned complex administrative projects and may be assigned as a representative to community initiatives at the direction of or in the absence of the Community Engagement Manager (Library Regional Manager).Preferences:

 

· Certificates in Community Information Management; ALA Leadership; Sunshine State Library Leadership Institute; or Post Master Certificates in Librarian-ship.

· Master's degree or higher in Education or related field that is separate but relevant from the Minimum Qualifications.

· Experience in Conflict Resolution, Project Management, and Grants Writing and Implementation.

· Two (2) years experience designing large scale services for low-literacy, disadvantaged, marginalized, and special populations.

· Two (2) years experience managing and/or developing a system-wide plan of service for adult programs and services.

 

Community Library Manager, Senior - Community Engagement - Youth Services:

The purpose of this position is to manage, plan, supervise and coordinate the activities of a division-wide section, Youth Services Administration.  The functions of this position include but are not limited to: supervising and training staff, managing public service projects and programs, facilitating partnerships, coordinating and cultivating outreach efforts, coordinating and supporting division-wide initiatives, youth reference services and readers advisory, and managing library innovation in the field of youth librarianship.  This position is also responsible for serving as a liaison to county-wide youth literacy organizations and projects, including the Campaign for Grade Level Reading.  This position is regularly assigned complex administrative projects and may be assigned as a representative to community initiatives at the direction of or in the absence of the Community Engagement Manager (Library Regional Manager).

 

Preferences:

 

· Certificates in Community Information Management; ALA Leadership; Sunshine State Library Leadership Institute; or Post Master Certificates in  Librarian-ship.

· Master's degree or higher in Education or related field that is separate but relevant from the Minimum Qualifications.

· Experience in Conflict Resolution, Project Management, and Grants Writing and Implementation.

· Two (2) years experience managing and/or developing a system-wide plan of service for youth programs and services and parent/caregiver engagement.

· Two (2) years experience managing a large scale Summer Learning Program.

 

Community Library Manager, Senior Collection Management:

The purpose of this position is to manage, plan, supervise, and coordinate the activities of the Collection Management section. The functions of this position include, but are not limited to: managing the division-wide selection, acquisition, cataloging, and processing of all library materials; allocating and administering the materials budget; developing and implementing Collection Management policies and procedures; managing the evaluation and selection of vendors; planning and selecting opening day collections for new libraries; providing guidance and support to library staff on all collection-related issues; responding to requests from staff and customers; coordinating the collection needs for college partners, programming, outreach services, and special events; and supporting division-wide initiatives.  This position reports to the Libraries Business Manager.

 

Preferences:

  • Certificates in Community Information Management; ALA Leadership; Sunshine State Library Leadership Institute; or Post Master Certificates in Librarian-ship.

  • Master's degree or higher in Education or related field that is separate but relevant from the Minimum Qualifications.

  • Experience in Conflict Resolution, Project Management, and Grants Writing.

  • Two (2) years experience developing new policies and procedures relevant to material selection, acquisitions, cataloging, weeding, and requests for reconsideration of library materials.

  • Three (3) years purchasing and budget management experience with system-wide library materials.

  • One (1) year experience with PeopleSoft Financial Management and Purchasing System.

  • Extensive knowledge of Excel.

  • At least (4) years Collection Development experience in a large and diverse library system, including two (2) years experience with central selection for multiple branches.

  • One (1) year experience planning and implementing an opening day collection for a large branch.

  • Two (2) years experience supervising the cataloging unit of a large library system.

  • Two (2) years experience working with vendors in the outsourcing of library materials selection and/or cataloging and processing.

  • Knowledge of vendor databases and two (2) years experience evaluating and negotiating for vendor products and services.

  • Two (2) years experience coordinating training for Public Service staff on procedures and vendor databases.
