This person must have knowledge of professional public library principles, methods and practices and have the ability to supervise and direct work of others. In addition to current technology related to library services, he/she will have the ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, and relate positively to a diverse population. He/she will assist patrons with reference and reader's advisory needs through print, non-print and electronic sources and provide bibliographic instruction; will assist patrons with the use of library downloadable products on a variety of personal devices; and will assist with facility management on a daily basis. The individual may supervise staff, serve on system-wide committees, attend professional development workshops and assist with displays and marketing of library materials. The individual should have knowledge of both children's and adult literature. This individual may participate in outreach programs. This person may be responsible for preparing narrative and statistical reports. Ability to lift and carry objects up to 35 lbs. Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time. Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License with an acceptable driving record is required. Ability to pass a criminal background check is required. The County may require employees to make either a temporary or long-term, permanent transfer to another Library location to accommodate the organization's business needs. This position is 80 hours Bi-Weekly; Days and Hours will vary to include evenings, Saturdays and some Sundays.
Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to: Master's Degree in Library Science from a graduate library school program accredited by the American Library Association and one year experience in a library or related field. Prefer two years related library experience.
