The Thomas G. Carpenter Library at University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Florida invites applications for Director of Library Systems and Technology. In a highly collaborative environment, the Director of Library Systems and Technology works with a wide variety of campus partners to ensure robust library support for new and established technology services that meet the teaching, research and services needs of the university community. The director is responsible for the overall administration of systems in support of library operations, identifies and coordinates library computing needs in support of library and university users, sets the direction of the library's technology environment and develops strategic goals and objectives to meet the library's mission in a shared governance environment. The director serves as a liaison between the Library and university's Information Technology Services and represents the Library on the University Technology Committee. At the state level, the director liaises with the Florida Academic Library Services Cooperative (FALSC). The director provides supervision for the Systems Department at the Library; 2.5 FTE faculty, staff and students and serves as onsite liaison to the ITS Help Desk housed in the Library with 20 FTE. The director reports to the Dean and is a member of the Dean's Leadership Team.
ALA-accredited Masters of Library Science degree and at least five years of relevant library experience. Evidence of increased levels of responsibility in managing Library functional areas with a high level of theoretical and practical knowledge of various aspects of Library technology and associated academic enterprise systems. Demonstrates functional familiarity with software and data formats commonly used in academic libraries. Evidence of strong supervisory skills, team building, and ability to collaborate with diverse constituencies in the university community. Demonstrable ability planning projects, setting priorities to ensure steady departmental operations.
Applicants with 9 years of academic library experience, post MLS, may be hired at the rank of University Librarian with a salary of $83,000 to negotiable.
